What you need to know about this EMT-Basic Training Program:
- This eight (8) week training program includes classroom and hands-on training that will fulfill the learning requirements and prepare you for the state written exam, National Registry exam and practical skills test or an Emergency Medical Technician – Basic position. The syllabus for this course was developed in partnership with the NREMT and Department of Homeland Security.
- This training program will begin on April 24, 2023.
- This is a full time training program, 36 hours per week.
- Classroom learning will be between the hours of 8:00am – 12:00pm.
- Hands-on training on truck will be self scheduled across various shifts
- You will be learning in a classroom setting and on an ambulance.
- While in training you will earn $15.00, and you can expect to receive an increase once you are certified and working in an EMT-B position.
- Class sizes are limited, and you will be expected to commit yourself to the program and to a fulltime EMT-B role after certification.
What is required for this EMT-B Training Program:
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
- Active, Valid Driver’s License.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire (available through this program).
- Must be 18 years or older and maintain a clean driving record to be considered for auto insurance coverage, acceptance into the program will be contingent upon pre-authorization from our insurance company.
What to expect as an EMT-B with Columbus Regional Health (after training program completion)
- With state-of-the-art equipment, our 12 ambulances provide 911 Emergency Medical Services, BLS Non-Emergent Ambulance Services, and Special Event Coverage to Bartholomew, and surrounding counties
- Work in a fast-paced, high performance ambulance service that responds to an average of 14,000 calls per year
- This position would require 3 – 12 hours shifts (36 weekly hours) between 8:00pm and 8:00am or 8:00am and 8:00pm; weekend and holiday rotation with the team is required.
What is required for this position of EMT-B (after training program completion)
- Indiana State EMT or National Registry EMT with the ability to obtain an unrestricted state certification within 30 days of hire
- This position will require frequent standing, walking talking and listening as well as lifting or moving more than 100 pounds
- Must be 18 years or older and maintain a clean driving record to be considered for auto insurance coverage, acceptance into the program will be contingent upon pre-authorization from our insurance company.
