What you need to know about this position:

  • Our Surgical Services Line is home to 13 Operating Rooms and 4 Endoscopy Center Suites, conducting a combined 10,000+ procedures per year. Our procedure specialties include but are not limited to Bariatrics, Urology, Orthopedics, Gynecology, OB, Gastrointestinal, Cardiovascular, Pulmonary and Vascular. Our Surgical Services team is focused on creating an excellent experience for our patients and their families by providing the right care, at the right place, at the right time.
  • The Purchasing Specialist performs a variety of purchasing functions under the direction of the Director of Surgical, Cardiovascular & Wound Center services and in coordination with Purchasing Services specifically for the Surgical Service Line. This position interacts daily with the Nurse Managers of the Operating Room and Endoscopy Center as well as appointed specialty specific Leads on crucial supply and equipment acquisition. This position will act as a business analyst and purchasing expert for all assigned departments providing diligent oversight to supply, instrumentation and equipment needs.
  • Our Purchasing Specialist has an hourly base rate starting at $17.65 and is commensurate with experience.
  • In this position you would be scheduled to work Monday through Friday (40 hours/week, considered full time) with start/end times of approximately 7:00AM – 3:30PM. Flexibility is needed to provide necessary assistance for ensuring complete preparation for next day patient procedures.
  • With at least 16 hours per week this position is benefit eligible.

What is required for this position:

  • Upon hire you must have:
    • Associate’s degree in business
      • Bachelor’s degree in business management preferred, or a minimum of 5 years of experience in a purchasing role
      • Healthcare purchasing systems experience is preferred.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and push or pull. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
