What you need to know about this position:

  • The System Chief of Police is the highest ranking Sworn Police Officer within the Hospital Police Department.
  • It leads the daily operations of the Hospital Police Department and Protective Services ensuring the continuous operation of the departments, acting as the lead to interact and deploy emergency preparedness internally and externally and ensuring regulatory readiness.
  • The System Chief of Police and Director of Emergency Management will work with other local and state first responders as well as inside counsel and local prosecutor to build relationships and integrate the Hospital Police Department as a respected member of the Law Enforcement Community.
  • This leader will report directly to the Executive Vice President - Chief Operating Officer and does not provide direct patient care.
  • This position is a salaried Full Time/40 hours per week position with general working hours of Monday – Friday 8:00am-5:00pm though exact hours will vary to support the needs of the organization.
  • This position offers a base salary between $99,361 - $165,588 though individual compensation is determined for this position through years of directly relevant experience. The base compensation is only a portion of the total rewards package including a leadership bonus and a comprehensive benefits program.

What the successful candidate will bring to this position:

  • At least 10 years of experience in a healthcare or civic environment with emphasis in the fields of law enforcement, protective services or forensic science with at least 5 years of leadership experience.
  • Attendance and graduation from the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy required.
  • Education experience will include a background in one of the following: Criminal Justice, Business, or other related field. Preference is given to an individual given to their own drive of additional growth and development toward an MBA, professional certification, or professional license.
  • Must possess and maintain valid driver’s license and meet the hospital’s liability insurance carrier requirements
  • Must obtain and maintain IAHSS Certified Healthcare Security Supervisor Officer (CHSSO) certification within one year.
  • IAHSS Certified Healthcare Protection Administrator (CHPA) required upon completion of CHSSO.
  • Must apply for the Police Chief Executive Training Course within the first two months of taking office as required by the Indiana Law Enforcement Training Board.
  • Homeland Security Exercise Evaluation Program (HSEEP) preferred.

While performing duties of the job, they are regularly required to talk or hear; frequently required to sit; occasionally required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls and reach with hands and arms; must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 lbs.
