What you need to know about this position:
- The Health Information Department focuses on documentation quality and data accuracy.
- A Clinical Documentation Specialist is responsible for concurrent review of the clinical documentation in the medical records and query of the medical staff and other caregivers as necessary via prompters/verbal communication to obtain accurate and complete documentation which appropriately supports the severity of patient illness and evidence-based patient care. This position does not provide direct patient care.
- The department works closely with Medical Staff Services and Clinical Risk Management.
- The Clinical Documentation Specialist position has an hourly base rate of $35.04, annualized to $72,883. Individual compensation is determined for this position through years of directly relevant experience and does include shift differentials and premium pay as applicable. The hourly compensation is only a portion of the total rewards package and a comprehensive benefits program is available for qualifying positions.
- This position requires working Monday through Friday; 20 weekly hours, between the hours of 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM. 100% remote.
What is required for this position:
- Registered Nurse from a Bachelor’s program with a current RN license and a minimum of 5 years clinical experience in an acute care setting.
OR
- Bachelor’s Degree from a Health Information Administration Program with RHIA registration and a minimum of 5 years coding experience in a hospital and a score of 85% or greater on the Inpatient Coding Assessment Tool.
