Congratulations to Devin Downs, a patient care technician in Nursing Resources, on receiving a Tulip Award!

Devin was nominated multiple times by peers across several specialties:
🌷“Devin really embraces his role as a tech and has a consistent attitude of service. Every time I go to see a patient, he proactively asks to help. He consistently stays engaged and brings calm, dependable energy to the room and makes the process easier and more efficient."

🌷Devin was the tech for a patient that was uncomfortable, confused, and at times agitated. Devin quickly assessed the patient and then served as a patient advocate by notifying the nurse. Accommodations were coordinated by Devin so that the patient was able to rest more easily during their inpatient stay.

🌷"A recent patient was sad, crying because they missed their spouse. Devin went out of his way to write the room phone number down." This small gesture allowed the patient to talk to their spouse and ease their worry.

Congratulations to Shacara Colford, Patient Care Tech within our Emergency Department, on receiving the Tulips for Techs Award! 🌷

Her nomination, from a grateful parent of her young patient, reads: "I have a special needs child who was brought to the Emergency Department via ambulance. Shacara took the time to come to the bedside and talk gently with my child. She held his hand and talked him through everything, even though he didn't process what she was explaining to him. She never stopped. She sat with him and calmed him down. She didn't just provide medical care, she showed compassion and empathy. She also was very kind with me, too.

"She puts her whole heart into what she does and deserves to be recognized for going above and beyond for her patients."

“I had to have blood work drawn, and the person who initially was going to draw my blood was under training, and I am a big baby when it comes to needles. The person who was training understood immediately, and drew my blood instead. Not only was she professional and kind, as was the trainee, who was also understanding, but the trainer got my blood on the first stick, talked to me, and reminded me to breathe. She was definitely outstanding, and I would love for her to be acknowledged or at least told that she is appreciated. Thank you.”
