What you need to know about this position:

  • Our Operating Room is home to 12 + 1 rooms conducting over 7,000 surgeries per year. From bariatric to gynecology to orthopedic to cardiovascular procedures, our surgical team is focused on creating a comfortable and positive experience for our patients and their families.
  • The RN/First Assist collaborates with the surgeon and the healthcare team in performing a safe operation with optimal outcomes for the patient.
  • The RN first assistant practices perioperative nursing and must have acquired the necessary knowledge, skills, and judgment specific to clinical practice.
  • The RN first assistant practices in collaboration with and at the direction of the surgeon during the intraoperative phase of the perioperative experience. The RN first assistant does not concurrently function as a primary scrub nurse.
  • The base hourly rate for this position is $41.00. Individual compensation is determined for this position through years of directly relevant experience and does include shift differentials and premium pay as applicable. The hourly compensation is only a portion of the total rewards package and a comprehensive benefits program is available for qualifying positions.
  • This position will require you to work 6:30am-5:00pm, 40 hours per week, primarily Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, with a holiday and on-call rotation.

What is required for this position:

Education and/or Experience

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Licensed (currently) as a registered nurse in Indiana. Certification as an RN First Assistant; Certification as a CNOR.
  • Must have EVH (Endoscopic Vein Harvest) experience/knowledge
  • Must have Cardiovascular and Peripheral vascular procedure experience/knowledge
  • Must be an experienced circulator in the OR (for at least 3–5 years)
  • Know how to circulate and scrub most all procedures

Certifications, Licenses, Registrations

  • Current Indiana RN license required.
  • Certification as RN/First Assist required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required.
